When Kilo Club Gym invited us along to their very first Christmas Party in St Andrews, we had a feeling this wasn’t going to be your typical festive gathering. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere confirmed it.

Kilo Club isn’t your typical gym. Founded in March 2025, the space was built around a clear vision – create a home for people who genuinely care about strength and performance. Unlike commercial gyms, every piece of equipment has been hand selected, catering for strength athletes, bodybuilders, CrossFitters, HYROX training and anyone serious about improving.

That mindset carried straight into the evening.

Once the simulator was set up, curiosity quickly turned into competition. What started as casual swings soon evolved into challenges, friendly rivalries, and plenty of repeat attempts from members determined to climb the leaderboard.

Long Drives, Challenges & Competitive Energy

The long drive competition naturally became the focal point of the night. There’s something about distance that immediately draws attention, and every swing quickly gathered a crowd. Members watched closely as numbers flashed across the screen, with reactions ranging from celebration to disbelief.

As the evening unfolded, the simulator became a rotating stage of:

  • Big Swings
  • Technique debates
  • Closest-to-the-pin challenges
  • Light-hearted competitive banter

What stood out most was how quickly everyone became involved. Some members arrived with golfing experience, others with none at all, yet within minutes the hesitation disappeared. The simulator created an environment where ability level simply didn’t matter.

Everyone stepped up.

Christmas Courses Covered in Snow

To match the festive atmosphere, we loaded up winter-themed courses covered in snow. This subtle detail completely changed the feel of the experience, adding a seasonal twist that immediately resonated with guests.

The snow-lined fairways and winter scenery created something visually striking while adding a slightly surreal contrast – driving powerful shots down frozen courses inside a performance-focused gym.

It’s a detail that consistently elevates Christmas events.

When Serious Power Meets the Simulator

One of the standout moments of the evening came when James Tait put the simulator to the test. Watching Europe’s number one long driver step up instantly shifted the energy in the room, drawing attention from across the gym.

Phones appeared. Conversations paused.

That’s just ridiculous… how is that even possible?

Even in a relaxed, social setting, that level of speed and power is something else entirely. The reaction from members said it all, sparking an immediate wave of renewed long drive attempts from those eager to see how their numbers compared.

Or at least get closer.

Why Simulator Competitions Work So Well

What made the evening such a success wasn’t simply the simulator itself, but how naturally competition and interaction developed around it. Structured challenges transform the experience, keeping guests engaged and creating moments that feel both social and memorable.

Portable golf simulators work exceptionally well at events because they:

  • Suite every ability level
  • Encourage friendly competition
  • Create natural crowd engagement
  • Offer something geniunely different

Most importantly, they give guests a reason to participate rather than simply observe.

A Brilliant Night at Kilo Club Gym

We’d like to thank everyone at Kilo Club Gym for having us along for such a brilliant evening. The competitive energy, welcoming atmosphere, and strong sense of community made this an incredibly enjoyable event to be part of.

For a gym that describes itself as “just the beginning”, the environment they’ve already created is seriously impressive.

We’re already looking forward to the next one.
